Poles buy cosmetics at cosmetics store chains - March 2012

Poles prefer to purchase cosmetics at cosmetics shops; large-format shops – hypermarkets, supermarkets and discount stores – rank second. These are only some of the findings of a consumer survey conducted among Poles purchasing cosmetics, conducted by PMR Research for the latest PMR Publications report entitled “Retail market of cosmetics in Poland 2012. Market analysis and development forecasts 2012-2014”.

The expansion of cosmetics shops, observable for several years, shows that consumers are increasingly reaching for more expensive products and expecting a wide store assortment as well as shop assistant’s help (62% of indications for this distribution channel). Hypermarkets and other large-format shops are not always capable of providing these services. What is also important, cosmetics shops are conveniently located (in shopping centres and in the main shopping streets). In smaller towns, where there are no hypermarkets, cosmetics shops are the only places where one can purchase such products.
