Is medical tourism good for Polish health care services?

Medical tourism has had a positive effect on Poland’s broader health care system, experts say, noting that income from the industry has helped update equipment and professional standards. But these gains must also be weighed against negatives for ordinary Poles.
“Medical tourism has positively influenced levels of investment in some private clinics…to the benefit of Poles.” argued Monika Stefańczyk, head analyst at consultancy PMR.

The net upgrade of Poland’s medical standards and equipment aren’t completely without cost. And, oddly enough, it may be the burgeoning private sector that suffers as a result of its own success.
The problem is that private healthcare facilities are tempted to price services to foreigners aiming below Western costs but above local capabilities. These may deter regular Poles.
