While the industry has to wait for a legal framework to introduce private health insur­ance, it is concentrating on developing pre­paid services rather than insurance. So far, private healthcare firms have been faring relatively successfully. According to data from market research firm PMR, the pre-paid market was worth PLN 1.6 billion in 2009, and grew by 13% from the year before. The reason why more and more companies and individuals resort to pre-paid plans is that they want to buy guaranteed access to doctors when they need them.
